First, we are the only HK based gift registry service that allows you to register any gift from any source. This way you can have one registry for all your gifts, and you can use the same registry for all your gift-receiving occasions. You aren't limited to choosing gifts from any one store, and you don't need to have multiple registries in different shops around the city.

We manage the whole process and its all kept current online, its easy for you to check on the progress, and its easy for your guests to buy a gift for you. Your guests don't need to physically go into the shop to buy a gift off the list, which is nice, particularly if your guests live overseas! In fact, we offer multiple currencies and various methods of payment to accomodate your guests from overseas. We'll also arrange the logistics and delivery, so once you're registered, you can basically sit back until the gifts arrive when you can start enjoying them!

4. What kinds of gifts can i register on my gift list?
You can select gifts from:
•Our over 70 partner merchants and brands who carry a wide range of gift products from the traditional to the very unique!
•Our own online gift selection
•Your imagination! Ask us to source a gift for you, or list a gift from a merchant who is not an existing partner. There is no charge to you, but there may be a nominal fee added on the price to your guests for these specially sourced or listed gifts.
•Cash gifts. Register any amount or an open ended amount of cash for a particular purpose (i.e. honeymoon fund, college education fund for your newborn, for a donation to your favorite charity, etc...)

5. How does Doublehappiness' gift registry work?
Double Happiness is an independent gift registry service. Once your registry is set up, we create a personalized web site that your friends can visit, browse and then make a purchase. We'll collect and consolidate payments, update the gift list and then send your order to the appropriate merchant for processing and delivery. For more details, see Registry Process in Detail

6.What kinds of occasions can I register for?
You can use our registry services for any occasion that you might receive gifts for. You can register for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, graduations, retirement, and even Christmas!

7. How much does it cost to use your service?
ITS ABSOLUTELY FREE for you set up a registry with us and no cost for your guests to access your gift list to buy a gift for you.

8. Why should I set up a gift registry?
First, you'll make it easier and more convenient for your friends to pick out the perfect gift for you. Our partial contribution feature makes it easy for a group of people to share the cost of a more expensive gift, which you may not have been able to receive without a registry.
Second, a gift registry can help you avoid duplicate or unwanted gifts, and you can specify the exact quantity you need of each item.

Your guests won't anguish over what to buy for you, or need to guess if you already have something or not.

9. Is there a sample registry that I can look at?
Sure, click to this link to view our sample registry page.

10. How do I register ?
You may register by filling out this simple on line registration form.
Alternatively, you can call us on (852) 2529 8213 and we can help you register offline.

11. Am I obligated to buy the remainder of the gifts which are left unbought at the end of my registry myself?
NO! You are under no obligation to buy the gifts you list on your gift list in any circumstance.

12. How do I add a picture to my online registry page and what specifications are there for the photo?
Once you have registered, there is a function on the My Gift List page which will allow you to add a photo to your gift list page.

13. Are there any specifications for the photo that i upload?
Please note that our system accepts gif and jpeg files only. For best performance we suggest keeping your image smaller than 600x400. You can upload bigger files but they won't improve resolution since our system automatically downscales pictures. With bigger pictures you'll just slow down the upload and the download times.

14. What is the Partial Contribution function and why is it useful?
One problem with traditional registries is that the lower priced gifts tend to go first. So if someone wishes to buy a gift late in the process, they may not find anything within their budget. With our partial contribution feature, gift givers will always find something within their budget because they can make a partial contribution towards any gift.

Having this feature allows you to register an expensive gift and have your friends share the cost.

Our partial contribution function also makes group gifts easier. Your friends no longer have to formally organize a group (or even know each other! ), then figure out each persons contribution, collect funds and appoint someone to make the purchase. Each person can just log on to our website , or contact us, and contribute an amount that they are comfortable with. Our system will keep track of the contributions and update the balance. Once the full amount has been paid, we'll send the order to the appropriate merchant.

15. What happens if the full amount on my gift is not reached in the partial contribution feature?
If a gift is incompletely purchased, you can (1) continue to list the gift to wait for more gift givers; (2) make up the difference yourself or (3) opt to have a gift certificate from the same merchant in the amount already contributed.

16. What is the "Hold Gift" Option?
For each gift you'll have an option to "Hold" a gift on your gift list. After a guest purchases a gift, we will not process that order with the merchant until you give us the go ahead to process it. This "Hold" function is useful if you would like to wait on a set, to make sure all the items in the set have been purchased before proceeding (i.e. cutlery or chinaware), or if you just aren't sure whether you like the gift of not. The only thing to remember is that by waiting longer to take the "Hold" option off a gift, the actual delivery time may be delayed due to ordering or stocking situations.

17. How do I let you know which items I'd to "Hold "?
There is a column in the gift selection form for partner merchants which allows you to mark "Hold".You can edit a gift by going to the Gift List section of your registry and checking the Edit box.

18. What if I don't check the "Hold Gift" Option?
If you don't check the "Hold Gift" option then your gift will be ordered in upon receipt of payment from your guests to ready for delivery on or around the date which you chose for the estimated delivery time.

19.I live in Hong Kong, but I'm having my wedding overseas. Can I still use the registry?
If you live in Hong Kong but are having your wedding overseas, it is actually ideal for you to use our registry. This way, your guests don't have to be bothered carrying gifts out of the country, and you don't have to worry about shipping back all your gifts. Once you return from the wedding festivities, just let us know and we'll arrange delivery of all your gifts.

20. Can my guests who live outside of HK use the service?
Of course! Our registry makes it easy for your overseas guests to select a gift, and they don't need to bother with lugging a present all the way to your wedding.
Since we are online, they can access your gift list at any time no matter what time zone they live in. In addition, we offer a variety of payment options and currencies especially forr the convenience of your overseas guests.

21. I'm logged in as the Registrant, how do I see what my registry looks like to my guests?

22. How do I add gifts from partner merchants to my registry?
From our website or by contacting us, you can get a copy of our partner merchants directory. The directory will show shop names, addresses, contact persons, and the types of products carried to make it easy for you to find the shops that you'll want to select gifts from. You will also need to bring along a copy of our Partner Merchant Gift Selection form to each shop.

Once you have selected what you'd like from the partner merchant shop, please ask one of the shop's assistants to help you fill out the pertinent information on the form about the gift items for record. Please use a separate form for each merchant. Fax back the forms to us at (852) 2893 7337 and we will then verify the gifts with the merchants and then upload your selections to your personal gift page within our website.

23. How do I add gifts from your website?
You may browse our own online selection of gifts by clicking to http://www.doublehappiness.com.hk/merchantsdirectory.asp?sortid=2&catid=30 after you have logged in.

You'll find a button next to each gift item "add to my registry" which will automatically enter the gift to your gift list.

24. How do I list wines on my registry?
Because we have such an extensive range of wines and spirts available for registering, we cannot list them all on our website. We work with most of Hong Kong's best wine distributors and can list almost any wine you'd like to receive for your wedding. Please contact us on (852) 2529 8213 or email: info@doublehappiness.com.hk to list the wines to your registry. We charge a regular retail price for the wines and do not consider wines to be a custom sourced gift, unless it is a very rare or hard to find wine.

25. What if I'd like to add a gift from a shop who isn't your partner merchant or if I'd like to ask you to find a gift that we think up?
We are happy to source or list a gift for you from any source. For listing gifts from other shops or merchants, or for custom sourcing of special gifts, we may add on an additional fee of UP TO 12.5% to the shop's retail price as the price to your guests, depending on our involvement required to source or list the gift.

26. How do I add cash gifts to my registry?
To add a cash gift like a honeymoon fund or a donation to charity, after logging on, use our on-line form to add cash gifts, located in the "Gift List" Section. You may choose to have an open ended amount, or a set amount for cash gifts.

27. Is there any charge for cash gifts?
For cash gifts we deduct a 12.5% administration fee from the amount given by a gift giver before remitting to the registrant for cash gifts.

28. If I register a donation to a charity do you send the money directly to the charity or to me?
For charitable donations, Double Happiness will remit the full amount of the donation, less any bank or credit card transaction charges to the charity in your name. An official receipt will be sent to you by the charity for donations only over $100 HKD. Double Happiness does not take any fees for charitable donations. To ensure that the full amount of your donation is remitted to the charity selected, it may be preferrable to pay using cheque, rather than credit card.

29. How do I let gift givers (my guests) know where I am registered?
There are several ways to inform your guests:
- Word of mouth. Ask you friends, bridesmaids, groomsmen, etc... to help spread the word.
- Registry Cards. You can include a registry card with your invitation or announcement, showing the direct link to your gift registry and our contact information.
- Direct Link. You can email the direct link to your registry to friends. Some customers print the direct link on the invitation or announcement.
- Email registry notice. You can use our Email registry notice function to send an email from Double Happiness to your friends about your registry. Since this email comes from a third party, it is a more subtle way of announcing your registry, but you should keep in mind that some of your guests may have a block on emails from recipients they don't know.
- RSVP system. Use our on-line RSVP system and when friends RSVP they are already on your registry.

30. How do gift givers access my registry?
Gift givers can access your registry by entering your last name in the "Search for Registry" box located on our web site at www.doublehappiness.com.hk.
